dontHANDY TIPS TO ENSURE YOU GET THE MOST FROM YOUR SUIT.

  • Don’t scrape your tail against the side of the pool or against the paving – you will damage your tail. Our tails are strong,
    but they are not indestructible.
  • Do not sit or move around on rough surfaces with your tail. Once you are finished swimming you should take your tail off
and transform back into a human to avoid your tail getting damaged.

    • Although strong, the Monofin is not unbreakable so do not bend your Monofin, or jump on it, it is made for swimming only! Do not use your monofin to push off from the bottom of the pool or to propel yourself forward from the pool’s walls, as this will place too much strain on the monofin and it may break. It is not made to support your bodyweight.
Please stand with your weight on both feet and your feet flat. Please transform yourself poolside, as jumping into the pool (illustratedbelow) is not only extremely dangerous, but there is a good chance that you will break your tail doing this.
  • Monofin should be stored flat in order to keep their shape.  Both the monofin and suit should be rinsed with water after use to increase their longevity.
Should your child break the insert, an insert replacement can be purchased. The covers for the guaranteesfin can also be purchased if damaged. Please note we are not responsible, and there is no guarantee implied or otherwise, should you damage the fabric on the tail. We are not liable due to the physical nature of the activity and because of the different textures of  swimming pools and swimming pool surrounds. No claims arising from general wear and tear can be made against Mermaid Me.

SAFETY ADVICE

doTransforming into a mermaid is a magical experience for any child, but it also comes with great responsibility. We are parents too and like our customers, our children’s safety is our greatest priority. Because we want all our mermaids to be safe, we recommend that ALL MERMAIDS…

  • HAVE AN ADULT PRESENT AND SUPERVISING THEM WHEN THEY SWIM.
  • HAVE AN ADULT OBSERVE AND TEACH THEM HOW TO SWIM WITH THEIR MERMAID TAILS.
  • PRACTICE WITH AN ADULT’S HELP, UNTIL THEY ARE COMFORTABLE USING THEIR MERMAID TAIL.
  • KNOW THEIR LIMITS – REMEMBER TO COME UP TO BREATHE OFTEN AND STOP IF YOU FEEL DIZZY.
  • ONLY SWIM WHERE IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

Mermaid Me tails are appropriate for children aged 6 and above and who are experienced swimmers.

Mermaid Me tails cannot be used as flotation devices and are not a substitute for a child’s inability to swim strongly unassisted.

Although the monofins do help swimmers to swim with extra speed and are light and easy to swim with, they do require a certain level
of skill. Mermaids will need to learn and be proficient at dolphin kick in order for the monofin to be safe and fun.

Our tails are safe for people who are proficient swimmers.  Even though they are flippers they are not safe if you cannot swim.

Both the tails and the monofins are open at the bottom as to stop air getting trapped and making the tail stick up while the head is facing down.

Please make sure if you are going to flip over that you are well away from the edge of the pool and it is deep enough as it is not safe unless you have plenty of space to do this.  It is important to practice this skill without a tail first, then with the monofin alone before attempting to do this in the tail.

There are places where you can go for mermaid lessons and I am happy to point you in the right direction if need be.

The most important thing is to have fun and this can only be done by being safe!!
